The 165 recipes
of Dora Parisi are for dishes cooked on Lesvos and throughout
the north Aegean. They originated on the coastline of
Asia Minor and were brought by refugees to the islands,
where they blended with the local cuisine.
The recipes are described in detail so that even those
unfamiliar with Greek cooking methods will have no difficulty
in following them. The ingredients are those which would
be found in any Greek kitchen - and which nowadays are
available in Mediterranean food shops all over the world.
The book will thus help readers prepare tasty and healthy
traditional dishes with a minimum of fuss.
The book also gives a visual taste of the Aegean, with
particular emphasis on Lesvos. Rare glimpses of the interiors
of the island's mansions, traditional ceramics, embroidery,
paintings by Theofilos, landscapes - all these illustrations
make scanning the pages of the book (not to mention cooking
the dishes) a fascinating visual journey.
With 150 colour photographs by Dimitris Talianis and Vasilis
Tsonis.
English translation by Cox and Solman.
